But Tiger Woods again declined to speak to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers, who had expected to talk with him as part of their investigation into the accident.

Officers, who were turned away on both Friday and Saturday, were to meet Tiger Woods at his home and discuss how his car came to hit a fire hydrant and then a tree near his two million-dollar home in the suburbs of Orlando.

Instead, FHP spokeswoman Sergeant Kim Montes said troopers who arrived at the house were met by Woods' lawyer Mark Nejame, who said Tiger Woods would not be meeting with them on Sunday.

"It has not been rescheduled," said Montes, who said the crash remains under investigation and could still result in charges. Under Florida law Tiger Woods is not obliged to give a statement.

"Mr. Woods' attorney provided the troopers with Mr. Woods' driver's license information, registration and current proof of insurance as required by Florida law," Montes said.

Authorities have already said alcohol wasn't a factor in the crash. Montes said that investigators wanted to give Tiger Woods an opportunity to give his version of events.

Early FHP reports that Tiger Woods was seriously hurt sparked worldwide interest. Even as it became clear Tiger Woods was not seriously harmed, speculation swirled as to why he was leaving his house at 2:25 in the morning and how he came to crash just after exiting his home.

Tiger Woods chose not to address those questions.

"Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible," he said.

Leading the speculation, the celebrity news website TMZ.com reported that a dispute between Tiger Woods and his wife, former model Elin Nordegren of Sweden, was at the center of the incident.

By the website's account, Nordegren confronted her husband about tabloid reports that he was having an affair with a New York club hostess.

"The only person responsible for the accident is me," Tiger Woods said. "My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false."

The FHP released a recording of a 911 emergency call in which a shaken neighbor of Tiger Woods tells dispatchers that a black Cadillac Escalade hit a tree outside his house.

"I have someone down in front of my house," says the caller, who is not identified and never mentions Tiger Woods by name. "I see him, he's laying down."

During the call, a woman yells out in the background "What happened?"

The neighbor responds that he has police on the line to report an accident. Not long after, the poor telephone connection is lost.

Daniel Saylor, police chief of the Orlando suburb of Windermere, has said Woods' wife used a golf club to smash out a rear window to help extricate him after she heard the crash from inside their home.

"This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me," Tiger Woods said. "I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be."

Tiger Woods is one of the best-known athletes in the world. According to Forbes business magazine, he is the first athlete to break through the billion-dollar earnings mark.

He and Elin have been married for five years and have two children, daughter Sam Alexis, born in 2007, and son Charlie Axel, born in February.

At age 25, Tiger Woods won the US Open, the British Open, the USPGA and the Masters on a roll to make him the first simultaneous holder of all four major championship titles.

Tiger Woods is scheduled to play his last tournament of 2009 next week, when he hosts the Chevron World Challenge in the Los Angeles suburb of Thousand Oaks.

His statement failed to clear up any questions about the middle-of-the-night accident outside his Isleworth estate in which his wife told police she used a golf club to smash the back windows of the Cadillac SUV to help him out.

"This situation is my fault, and it's obviously embarrassing to my family and me," Tiger Woods said on his Web site. "I'm human and I'm not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn't happen again."

The statement was posted around 2 p.m. Sunday, about an hour after Woods' attorney told the Florida Highway Patrol that for the third straight day golf's No. 1 player would be unavailable to talk to troopers.

This time, the meeting was not rescheduled.

Even so, Sgt. Kim Montes of FHP said troopers went to Tiger Woods' $2.4 million estate anyway, only for attorney Mark NeJame to turn them away. The attorney gave troopers Woods' driver's license, registration and insurance as required by law for such accidents.

TigerWoods said the crash was a private matter, and he intended to keep it that way.

Woods' wife turned troopers away from their home in the exclusive gated community outside Orlando on Friday, the day of the accident, because she said he was sleeping. Steinberg called troopers en route to Woods' house on Saturday and postponed the meeting until Sunday.

"We're just continuing our traffic crash investigation," Montes said. "If we have somebody who we feel is pertinent to the investigation, then we will interview them."

She said the 911 caller was interviewed Saturday, and investigators might speak with other people who were at the scene as well.

The FHP released the 911 call from an unidentified neighbor on Sunday.

"I have a neighbor, he hit the tree. And we came out here just to see what was going on. I see him and he's laying down," the neighbor told dispatchers without ever identifying the victim as Woods.

Asked if the victim was unconscious, the neighbor replied, "Yes."

Part of the call were inaudible because of a bad connection. At one point, the voice of a woman is heard yelling, "What happened!"

"We're just trying to get the police here right now," the neighbor says to the woman. "We don't know what happened. We're figuring that out right now. I'm on the phone with the police right now."

According to the FHP accident report, Tiger Woods had just pulled out of his driveway when he struck a fire hydrant and then a tree. Tiger Woods said he had cuts, bruising and "right now I'm a little sore."

Montes said the Woods' car was towed for "safekeeping," and authorities have already documented where the damage is on the vehicle and the point of impact.

The accident came two days after the National Enquirer published a story alleging that Tiger Woods had been seeing a New York night club hostess, and that they recently were together in Melbourne, where Tiger Woods competed in the Australian Masters.

The woman, Rachel Uchitel, denied having an affair with Tiger Woods when contacted by The Associated Press.

Los Angeles attorney Gloria Allred confirmed she was representing Uchitel when she was reached by the AP on Sunday.

"She is with me in L.A.," Allred said later in an e-mail to the AP. "We plan to meet and then we'll decide on the next step, which we do not plan to announce to the press."

Uchitel arrived at Los Angeles International Airport late Sunday morning, where she was met by Allred and escorted out of the baggage claim area and into a black car. Uchitel did not speak to reporters except to ask that she be left alone.

Woods, 33, had agreed to meet officers from the Florida Highway Patrol at his $2.4 million home in Orlando to discuss the incident and bare what remained of his facial wounds for inspection. But an hour before the meeting he abruptly cancelled it and issued a statement blaming himself for the crash and praising his wife’s “courage”.

Dan Rosenbaum, a lawyer who is not involved with the case, said: “He has a lot of endorsement money at stake, so he has to be very careful how this is handled and what the story is that comes out.”

Three 17 year olds were in a car when one of them, Bill Bartlett, glimpsed something creeping next to a wall of stones on the west side of the street. The creature turned its head and looked directly into the car’s headlights. The teen saw two large, shiny orange eyes glowing brightly. Its large oval head as large as the rest of its body was on top of a skinny neck. The body, less than four feet tall, was gangly with large hands and feet. The hairless skin appeared to be rough- textured.

None of the others in the car saw the critter. They testified later that Bartlett seemed genuinely distressed. When the teen arrived home his father noticed how upset he was. Bartlett drew a sketch of the entity to show him what he saw.

Second Sighting of the Dover Demon
April 22, 1977, approximately 12:30 AM, John Baxter, 15, was walking home from his girlfriend's house. He noticed a short figure walking toward him. He thought it was a friend of his. He called out his friend's name, but there was no answer. As they grew closer, the creature stopped. Baxter approached it to see who or what it was. It scurried down a shallow gully, rested, then went up the opposite bank.

When it was at the bottom of the slope Baxter looked more intently at it. The creature had its arms wrapped around a tree trunk. The fingers were very long. His description of the creature matched Bartlett's.

On the evening of April 23, 1977, Will Taintor, 15, was driving Abby Brabham, 15, home. Brabham said she saw something in the vehicle’s headlights. On the left side of the road, there was a hairless creature, down on all four limbs, facing the vehicle. The body was lanky and it had large, oversized oval head. Its eyes glowed green. When she was told Bartlett he said the eyes were orange, she said they appeared green to her.

Does the above image look familiar to you? It certainly does to me. It resembles the drawings of the Dover Demon seen in Dover, Massachusetts, from April 1977. However, it actually is from a newspaper article published in New York City on December 3, 1893.

This drawing was discovered by Robert Schneck (the author of The President’s Vampire) and shared with me, of course, because of my foundation interest in the Dover Demon. My appreciation to Schneck for bringing this to my attention.

The 1893 drawing is not of a sighting of any creature, however, but an artist’s (perhaps humorous) imagined illustration of how humans might appear in the future, viewed from the Victorian era. Specifically, the work is tied to the fictional writings of H. G. Wells and his little-known article, “The Man of the Year Million.” It is Wells who has predicted the future of humans will see a diminishing of their hair, nose, teeth, ears, and chin. The above 1893 drawing appears to be an attempt to capture Wells’ thoughts in a bit of newspaper art.

It is a sad commentary that as a reflection of the man of today, near the 1893 Dover Demon-like drawing, Schneck also found an image from an ad about paid (10¢) viewings of a “wild hairy man.” This was obviously an indigenous person (perhaps from Oceania) in an entertainment sideshow.

Dover Demon Sightings in North America

1977 Dover Massachusetts USA: On April 21 and 22 there were sightings of a strange creature that could not be easily explained or likened to any other known animal in the Massachusetts region.

The first sighting occurred after dark and a creature was seen by 3 teenaged boys. The trio of seventeen-year-olds was driving near Dover, Massachusetts, when the headlights of their car shone on something animal-like. At first guess, the animal might have been a dog or cat, but as the youngsters gazed longer, the animal seemed to have an unfamiliar shape and appeared to be crawling on a stone wall, along Farm Street.

Bill Bartlett was the teen who was driving the car on this night, and he later said the animal had a watermelon-shaped head, orange eyes that were like glassy marbles.

Other sightings were reported soon after the three teens saw the creature.

Unfortunately, reports of the creature deemed Dover Demon have been largely discredited because the witnesses of this strange form have all been teenagers.

Not long after Bartlett allegedly saw the creature, another teen had a brief encounter with it, right on the same night. Technically the sighting occurred on April 22, because a youth, John Baxter saw the creature at half past midnight.

Baxter had been visiting his girlfriend on the evening of April 21. The 15-year old was going home when a small figure approached from some distance away. Assuming that the figure was a friend of his who was of short stature, young John Baxter called out the friend's name, but received no verbal response.

The two continued to get closer to each other, but then the unknown figure stopped, so Baxter also stood still. After a moment, Baxter choose to investigate and get a better look at whoever this was exhibiting sort of secretive behavior, and he started to walk again, toward the figure. At this, the creature bolted, ran down into a gully, then back up onto the other side of the bank of the gully, but it stopped on this other side and stood still.

Baxter observed these actions and continued to peer into the shadows where the figure had paused. Baxter tried to get a better look at the figure that had just fled, and he concluded that from what he could see, that he'd never heard of or seen anything like this creature before.

The creature remained in the shadows at a distance of about 30 feet away and its feet seemed molded around the rock on which it stood, while its hands were molded around the trunk of a tree. The fingers appeared greatly elongated. Baxter left the area and returned home.

The rest of Baxter's description of the creature matched the details that Bill Bartlett reported, but it appears that Baxter's experience with the creature may have been of longer duration than Bartlett's. Baxter was on foot and actually remained paused for a while in attempting to see what the unknown figure was in the dark outdoors. Bartlett had been in a moving vehicle earlier in the evening when he saw the creature of Dover Demon.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. John Baxter, aged fifteen, was walking home from his girlfriends house when he noticed a short figure walking toward him. Baxter thought it was a small friend of his, and called out this friends name, but he received no answer. As they neared one another the creature stopped, and so did Baxter, who then decided to get a better look and began once again to approach the creature. This sent the being running down a shallow gully and up the opposite bank.

At the bottom of the slope he looked more closely at it. It looked unlike anything he had ever seen or heard of before in his young life. It stood in shadows about thirty feet away, its feet "molded" around some rocks upon which it was perched, a few feet from a tree. Both hands were wrapped around the trunk of the tree with very long fingers. He left the scene after that, and his description of the entity was exactly the same as Bartlett's.

The following evening, eighteen year old Will Taintor was driving fifteen year old Abby Brabham home, when Brabham said she spotted something in the vehicles headlights. On the left side of the roadway was a creature, with no hair and down on all fours, facing the vehicle. Its body was thin and monkeylike, and she also described a large, oversized oval head. She did say the eyes glowed green, and stuck to that point even when she was informed that Bartlett had said the eyes were orange. Taintor said he had only gotten a short glimpse.

Women experiencing the vague but identifiable symptoms of ovarian cancer need the voice to respond to the whispering of their bodies, collectively and individually. Listening to women and identifying their symptoms is an obvious task, but nurses also need to consider women's ways of knowing and the strength of women's voices to optimize screening, early detection, and timely care for ovarian cancer. It is a theoretical framework that can be used to emphasize the importance of listening to women as they are screened in any healthcare setting, especially for the early symptoms of ovarian cancer.

The purpose of this descriptive qualitative study is to examine personal stories of ovarian cancer within the framework of WWK to understand how women voice their whisperings of ovarian cancer and their interactions with healthcare providers. A review of the literature was conducted using the CINHAL[R] database. To begin the search, the key words, ovarian cancer, cancer screening, female, and early detection, resulted in 116 articles. The literature included discussions of evidence-based screening practices, recommended diagnostic tests, and the Ovarian Cancer Symptom Index.

Because WWK is the guiding framework for the study, the key words, ovarian cancer and women's ways of knowing and ovarian cancer and intuition were used to guide the literature search. Ovarian cancer still is elusive because no useful diagnostic test for the general population is available. Rather a combination of diagnostic tools are used to screen for ovarian cancer, but they are not used to screen all women. Because no equivalent to the mammogram or Pap smear currently exists for detecting ovarian cancer.

The accuracy of those modalities is limited and has not proven to be effective in identifying ovarian cancer in the early stages. USPSTF listed a D recommendation for routine ovarian cancer screening, which means that screening of asymptomatic women is ineffective or the harms outweigh the risks. Context.-The development of targeted therapy provides an exciting prospect for treatment of advanced non- small cell lung cancer. In the last few years the epithelial growth factor receptor has emerged as one of the most important targets in very selected patients.

Objective.-To review current data on the role of the targeted therapy in advanced non-small cell lung cancer and offer some perspectives for the practitioner.

Conclusions.-Despite the remarkable development of targeted therapies in advanced non-small cell lung cancer, there is not yet a real improvement in overall survival.

Gene therapy is an exciting prospect for treatment of lung cancer because genes can be transduced into cancer cells to correct genetic lesions or inactivate oncogenes.

Epidermal growth factor receptor mutations are present in about 10% of cases of non-small cell lung cancers in the United States and Europe and in about 30% to 50% of non-small cell carcinomas in Asians. More than 50% of adenocarcinomas with bronchioloalveolar features that arise in nonsmokers have EGFR mutations.

Mutations in codons 12 and 13 of the KRAS gene, present in 30% of non-small cell lung cancers, and a history of cigarette smoking are usually associated with resistance to TK-Is. Recent data suggest that EGFR mutations and KRAS mutations are mutually exclusive in non- small cell lung cancer.

Individuals with a history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease also have an increased risk of developing lung cancer. The lower the forced expiratory volume in one second, the greater the risk of lung cancer.

Many newly diagnosed patients with lung cancer are former smokers. Smoking cessation is the key to preventing lung cancer. Patients who have been diagnosed with lung cancer yet continue to smoke should be encouraged to stop as well. Chemoprevention with antioxidants has been studied but, to date, no chemopreventive agents have been proven effective in preventing lung cancer. Small cell lung cancer ( Small Lung Cancer ) is a disease in which the cells of the lung tissues grow uncontrollably and form tumors. Lung cancer is divided into two main types: small cell and non-small cell. Small cell lung cancer is the least common of the two, accounting for only about 20% of all lung cancers. In the past, the disease was called oat cell cancer because, when viewed under a microscope, the cancer cells resemble oats. This type of lung cancer grows quickly and is more likely to spread to other organs in the body.

The lungs are located along with the heart in the chest cavity. The lungs are not simply hollow balloons, but have a very organized structure consisting of hollow tubes, blood vessels, and elastic tissue. The hollow tubes, called bronchi, are multi-branched, becoming smaller and more numerous at each branching. They end in tiny, blind sacs made of elastic tissue called alveoli. These sacs are where the oxygen a person breathes in is taken up into the blood, and where carbon dioxide moves out of the blood to be breathed out.

Normal, healthy lungs are continually secreting mucus that not only keeps the lungs moist, but also protects the lungs by trapping foreign particles like dust and dirt in breathed air. The inside of the lungs is covered with small, hair-like structures called cilia. The cilia move in such a way that mucus is swept up out of the lungs and into the throat.

Small cell lung tumors usually start to develop in the central bronchi. They grow quickly and prevent the lungs from functioning at their full capacity. Tumors may block the movement of air through the bronchi in the lungs. As a result, less oxygen gets into the blood and patients feel short of breath. Tumors may also block the normal movement of mucus into the throat. As a result, mucus builds up in the lungs and infection may develop behind the tumor.

Small cell lung cancer is an aggressive disease that spreads quickly. Symptoms depend on the tumor's location within the lung, and on whether the cancer has spread to other parts of the body. More than 80% of small cell lung cancer patients have symptoms for only three months or less, and few cases are detected early. The following symptoms are the most commonly reported by small cell lung cancer patients at the time of their diagnosis:

a cough that does not go away
chest pain
shortness of breath and wheezing
persistent hoarseness
fatigue and loss of appetite (anorexia)

Although some patients may experience bloody spit or phlegm, this symptom is more commonly seen in patients with other types of lung cancer.

Small cell tumors often press against a large blood vessel near the lungs called the superior vena cava (SVC), causing a condition known as SVC syndrome. This condition may cause patients to retain water, cough, and have shortness of breath. Because small cell lung cancer often spreads quickly to the bones and central nervous system, patients may also have bone pain, headaches, and seizures.

The docu-series gives viewers an inside look at the most exclusive realtors in the Los Angeles area, a luxurious but dangerous place to work. Despite the soft market, these agents will stop at nothing to close million dollar deals in neighborhoods like Malibu, Beverly Hills and Hollywood.

Josh Flagg, Madison Hildebrand and Chad Rogers, L.A.'s up-and-coming realtors, are the stars of this season. I could watch Jeff Lewis brush his teeth and it would be interesting (probably because he have some neurotic freak out about the kind of toothpaste or how it was placed in the drawer). Second, the show does a good job of explaining the professional elements without making it too technical. Lastly, all of the other "characters" on the show are involved with Jeff. They give us even more insight into Jeff's pysche.
